THANK YOU! FLEA MARKET A SUCCESS!

Thank you to everyone who donated items to our Flea Market fundraising event. A special thank you to Nina Zippay for coordinating the event; to Dennis Murphy for coordinating the donation drop-offs and pick-ups; and to Warren Christensen for coordinating the publicity. We are grateful to all the volunteers both from the community, and from the school who helped at the event. Lastly, thank you to Superior Market for the use of their parking lot.

Flea Market Friday Drop-Off, November 5, at Mt. Washington Elementary

Look for the truck and drop-off your slightly used items at Mt. Washington Elementary School on Friday, November 5, if you are not able to bring your donated items on the day of the Flea Market. Mt. Washington Elementary parent Dennis Murphy will be there in the morning at 8:00 am, and at pick-up time at 2:30 pm to receive your donated items. We will also need volunteers to help at the Flea Market between the hours of 7 am and 3 pm. Thank you for supporting Mt. Washington Elementary and we hope to see you there!

17TH BI-ANNUAL FLEA MARKET, SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 6

Your "trash" is someone else's treasure! Clean out your closets, garages and more, and donate your gently used treasures to the 17th Bi-Annual Friends of Mt. Washington School Flea Market on Saturday, November 6th. Drop off goods between 7 and 10 am at the Superior Market parking lot at Figueroa and Avenue 45. All proceeds directly support Mt. Silent Auction 2010: A Great Success!

Thank you to everyone who came out in full force to revel and enjoy the 5th Annual Auction 2010, which was held at the historic 20th Century Women's Club in Eagle Rock.  Over 200 attendees enjoyed the wonderful food prepared by our own culinary skilled Mt. Washington Elementary parents, Cajun style of course; listened and danced to the authentic and catchy music of Bonn Musique Zydeco;  enjoyed a free massage; imbibed a drink or two prepared by our very friendly bartenders; and engaged in exciting bidding wars, hoping to win one of the beautiful baskets put together by our parents, or one-of-a-kind designed and made by our own Mt. Washington students and family members, or a jewelry or two handmade by one of our talented Mt. Washington artists, and other hundreds of items donated by parents, businesses and community members.

Most importantly, we are extremely grateful to all of our committee members and volunteers who selflessly donated countless hours, skills, talent, money, equipment, and then some, in order to make this event a great success. A special thank you goes to Ariella Roberts, for chairing the event. In addition to maintaining a full time job, and together with her husband, raising a 2 year old daughter and a 7 year old son, managed to take the reins and showed everyone that yes, we can do it!

We hope to see all of you next year!

Auction Planning Meeting: Friday, April 9, 2010

We're down to the last leg!  We won't meet on the week of April 2 as it is officially Spring Break.  So we hope to see everyone on Friday, April 9, one week and one day before the fun event.  Donations came pouring in on Friday, March 26, and we are busy, busy, logging in all the wonderful items we have received.  Again, thank you to the hardworking people who have been out in the community soliciting donations, and to our room parents and teachers who have been working hard to meet the classroom auction project deadline.   We still need a lot of volunteers to help at the auction event.  Please stop by the Parent Center to sign up for volunteer help.  The last two meetings are held at the Parent Center, from 8:15 to 9:30 am.  We hope to see you then.
